Svenja Matthiesen
Svenja’s love for climbing started about a decade ago, when she was first introduced to the sport after moving to Australia from Germany. She has spent most of her time climbing in the beautiful Blue Mountains when she was living in Sydney, and has recently relocated her life to WA in mid 2025 where she is now exploring all the climbing it has to offer. She’s done trips to the Margaret River and Albany region, and is eager to explore the northern regions around Kalbarri as well. She has been thrilled to find stunning climbing locations right near the ocean which is her all time favorite place and element to be around and has loved being introduced to the local climbing community here who has been nothing short of warm and welcoming towards her.

The Australian School of Mountaineering (ASM) is proud to host this year’s Reel Rock at Dendy Newtown. Since the early 1980s, ASM has been delivering world class climbing, guiding, and training, achieving numerous Australian firsts in international guided expeditions—including Mt Aconcagua in the Argentinian Andes and the first professionally guided multi-peak Himalayan expedition
Based in the Blue Mountains, ASM provides a diverse range of courses and guided adventures, from beginner abseiling and canyoning to multi-pitch climbing and climber’s rescue skills.
Driven by the same passion that fuels the climbing community, ASM is the perfect host for this exciting event!

Charles Gore
I’m Charles, for me the outdoors is the ultimate escape, stripping life back to its simplest form. I like to think of hiking as my moving meditation. In the stillness and quiet of the wilderness is where I think clearer and feel most at ease. There’s something incredibly rewarding about exploring untouched landscapes, it can be a short walk or pushing myself beyond my physical and mental comfort zone. Living in Sydney my favourite area to explore is the Blue Mountains with its epic views and countless swimming holes. When I’m not adventuring, I’ll be going for a dip in the ocean or reading a good fantasy book.

Coen Bennie-Faull
Coen Bennie-Faull has built a life around adventure, both in the mountains and behind the scenes of the stories that bring them to life. A professional freeride skier for Arc’teryx and Co-Founder of Higher Freeride, Coen is deeply connected to the global mountain community as both an athlete and storyteller.
As ANZ Film Team Manager at Adventure Entertainment, he works across Australia and New Zealand to bring some of the world’s leading adventure and mountain film tours to audiences, helping share stories of exploration, wild places and human possibility. Whether he’s skiing big lines in the backcountry, mentoring the next generation of freeride athletes, or hosting a room full of mountain lovers at a film screening, Coen’s passion for adventure is at the centre of everything he does.

Christian Nicoll
Christian Nicoll is a retail manager at the Wild Earth, Burleigh Heads store on the Gold Coast of Queensland, while also working as a multipitch mountain guide in the Glasshouse Mountains under the Instagram tag @summit_hollistics.
After completing a batchelor of Health science in Naturopathic medicine, Christian realised that the best way to stay young for as long as possible is to just get out and enjoy nature.
When Christian isn’t in the shop helping people gear up for their own adventures or guiding them up a multipitch climb while dishing out health advice, he’s either teaching lead climbing at the local indoor climbing gym, hiking with mates or hitting the local surf and freediving spots as much as he can.

Tim
Tim started his passion for climbing over 24 years ago, climbing near his hometown of Kyneton at local crags, Black Hill, Mt. Macedon and Mt. Alexander before branching out across Australia and internationally. Traveling as far as New Zealand, Thailand and China with upcoming trips planned for Canada and Patagonia (outlet store). From working as a climbing instructor, coach and route setter at different climbing gyms, to being a board member for SCV and the current Manager of Climbing Anchors Fitzroy, Tim has been involved in the climbing industry, in some capacity, for the past 17 years!

Ash
Ash is a van-dwelling, former bouldering gym manager and new mum, still adventuring between naps and snack breaks. A self-proclaimed mediocre outdoor climber, she’s passionate about the climbing community and the stories that connect us to wild places.
